Sarah Shillito, Associate

Until recently Sarah was Associate Director Global Community Investment at biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, where she was the strategic lead for Young Health Programme, a global community investment programme combining research, advocacy and on the ground programmes focused on adolescents and protecting their future health. Working in collaboration with over 20 NGOs worldwide, the programme has reached over 1.4 million young people and created over 10,000 peer educators since its launch in 2010. Prior to that she headed up The Vodafone UK Foundation, shaping employee volunteering, local community philanthropic activities and implementing their first long term corporate/charity partnerships with activities focused on young people at risk of exclusion.

Sarah is a seasoned practitioner in UK and global strategic philanthropy, with extensive experience of grant-making; building, developing and managing corporate charity partnerships; programme measurement, evaluation and sustainability; and devising employee engagement programmes. Her experience includes working in a regulated industry, setting up and running a corporate foundation and working on public health and youth based programmes. Her particular focus has been on prevention programmes which benefit youth through engaging and empowering them.
