Carol Griffiths
Carol is an experienced sustainability and communications specialist. She began her career in product marketing with NatWest Group (now RBS), with responsibility for the bank’s range of savings, investment, insurance and mortgage services, before progressing to Head of Brand Strategy, where she led the development of corporate social responsibility, sustainability and business ethics within the bank. This included pioneering the development of a mass staff-volunteering programme to increase financial literacy in UK schools, drafting NatWest’s internal Code of Ethics (the first in the UK banking sector) and representing NatWest with industry bodies to develop the UK’s first Banking Code.
She left NatWest to work on the start-up of Hanover PR, now one of Europe’s leading independent corporate communication agencies, working with clients such as HBOS, Dr Foster Intelligence, the Police Federation and Unilever, before joining Powering Partnerships in 2002.
Carol’s recent work includes helping HSBC to establish a leadership position on sustainability; helping corporate foundations and charitable trusts to work more effectively with their funders and communicate their work more confidently to internal and external stakeholders; and helping environmental NGOs to compete more effectively for grants and corporate support.
